The project is spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Information Service (KOHIS). Its core purpose is to allow patients to view medical records scattered across multiple healthcare institutions in one place. Currently, 1269 medical facilities nationwide (including 47 advanced general hospitals) participate. Seoul Asan Hospital has served as a hub repository and leading institution since July 2024. The hospital focused on building a cloud infrastructure compliant with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard to ensure safe data transmission. Patients can use a mobile app to view, store, and share diverse information such as diagnosis details, drug prescription history, test results, and surgical records. Hospital officials anticipate that this service will allow medical professionals to reference records from other institutions, leading to more appropriate treatment and an overall improvement in the quality of care.
