The Australian Digital Health Agency (AdHA) has partnered with HL7 Australia to launch 'FHIRside,' a weekly virtual forum for healthcare technology professionals. The purpose is to create a collaborative space where participants can connect, learn, and accelerate the practical implementation of Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards. FHIR is an international standard crucial for improving the safety, quality, and efficiency of digital health systems across Australia. AdHA's Acting CEO noted that FHIRside provides a vibrant environment for peer support and real-time learning, allowing participants to discuss challenges without judgment. Furthermore, according to AdHA's Acting Chief Digital Officer, this forum goes beyond solving technical problems; it aims to uplift capability across the sector and cultivate a shared ecosystem that strengthens cross-organizational collaboration and supports innovation. The sessions complement existing comprehensive FHIR training courses, offering direct access to experts and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. The inaugural session is scheduled for October 7, 2025, running until December before resuming in late January 2026.
