Standardizing Medical AI: Bundang Seoul National University Hospital Drives Nationwide Integrated Platform Demonstration

Bundang Seoul National University Hospital launched the demonstration of an 'All-Cycle Patient Journey Based Integrated Medical AI Operation Network' (AICON) at a kickoff report with the Ministry of Science and ICT, etc., under the '2026 AX-Ready Pilot Project.' The goal is to overcome the limitations of scattered AI adoption in individual hospitals and establish national standards for medical AI transformation. The system will integrate 10 commercially approved medical AIs across various stages (diagnosis, management, prognosis). Furthermore, it aims to build a regional platform using AI collaboration agents, such as a patient care navigator and a clinician care pilot, to assist referrals and transfers between local medical institutions. Smart wards are also being implemented with nine solutions, including voice-based electronic health record automation and fall detection. A key technical feature is the combination of the 'Healthcare Data Standard (KR-Core FHIR)' and the AI linkage standard (MCP). This structure allows a single developed AI to function uniformly across multiple hospitals via standardized specifications, significantly lowering implementation costs and technical barriers. The project aims to make high-level AI accessible even to smaller regional hospitals and clinics, establishing a national standard for Korean medical AI.
