The new FHIRplace event by Drummond moves beyond traditional testing methods like self-testing or one-off pilots. It is designed to support the HL7-based FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) cited in the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057). Participants can validate not only their conformance to specifications but also their ability to interoperate seamlessly with multiple partners under real-world conditions. The event, running from August to December 2025, focuses initially on the Coverage Requirements Discovery (CRD) Implementation Guide. Participation involves three progressive levels: First Level (Conformance Validation), Second Level (Ad hoc System-to-System Testing), and Third Level (Full-Matrix Testing). This structured collaboration allows implementers to identify and resolve interoperability challenges early in the development cycle, promoting test-driven development practices. Joining FHIRplace helps organizations align with value-based care by gaining visibility into testing patterns and strengthening quality assurance processes.
