Summary

This presentation proposes how a mobile application can securely transmit measured data from wearable devices to healthcare systems using the HL7 FHIR standard. This enables incorporating vital signs and other information gathered from wearables into existing medical care processes.

Details

The research addresses the challenge of safely and seamlessly integrating health data collected from smart devices and measuring instruments—which are used in daily life—into the clinical care chain. The developed Android application reads measured data, such as blood glucose and blood pressure, structures it as an 'Observation' resource compliant with the HL7 FHIR standard, and then securely transmits it to an integration platform via a REST API. A key feature of this solution is that it goes beyond mere data transfer. The transmitted messages include not only the measurement result but also the interpretation of the result, the device used for measurement, and the precise time of measurement. Furthermore, a user confirmation process is implemented before transmission to prevent data errors. Technically, the data transmission is guaranteed to occur in a protected environment where the data is encrypted during transit, ensuring both information security and data integrity. The system design is also modular and scalable, allowing for the easy addition of new types of measurements or application to other integration scenarios. This approach demonstrates that mobile solutions can be implemented in healthcare with both high safety and practicality. By adopting the FHIR standard, universal interoperability is achieved, independent of specific systems.
