Leaders to Explore the Business Case for FHIR

HL7 New Zealand is hosting an executive program titled “The Business of Interoperability” to address critical business challenges and opportunities related to standards-based healthcare interoperability. The event will bring together leaders from member companies for strategic discussions regarding the value proposition, business case, and implementation hurdles of investing in such standards. A key focus is the HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standard, which is noted for making health data sharing easier, potentially improving quality and reducing costs. However, healthcare organizations across New Zealand are grappling with the practical business realities of interoperability investment. The program features keynote remarks from Grahame Grieve, FHIR Product Director and principal architect of the FHIR standard. He will provide insights into FHIR's global adoption trajectory and address specific business implementation considerations for the New Zealand context. Participants will also hear from Deloitte Partner Damian Harvey and HL7NZ Platinum Sponsor HealthLink. The event is designed to be a forum where industry leaders can collectively discuss challenges, identify ways to work together, and plan for digital transformation in collaboration with Health New Zealand. It is scheduled for October 7, 2025, at the Deloitte offices in Central Auckland.
