Providence and Humana have teamed up to launch a new data exchange program designed to improve value-based care. This project aims to enable secure and standardized clinical data sharing, streamline member attribution, decrease administrative burdens, and close care gaps. The current healthcare data infrastructure is fragmented and difficult to access, making it challenging for providers and payers to coordinate care and track patient outcomes. To address this, the program leverages national standards like FHIR to create a more interoperable ecosystem, ensuring timely and accurate data exchange. According to experts, partnering with a large payer like Humana provides national reach, allowing them to change the way data is exchanged at a national level, rather than just improving local systems. The initiative uses standardized APIs for the real-time exchange of rosters, claims, care gaps, and financial data, reducing manual work.
