Announcement of Seminar on Modeling in Healthcare Information

The Japan Association for Medical Data Utilization Infrastructure (IDIAL) is holding a specialized modeling training seminar over approximately two months, from November 20 to January 8, 2025. The goal of the seminar is to provide participants with practical skills in medical information. HL7 FHIR is widely used as an international standard for healthcare data exchange, and its specifications are being developed in Japan for electronic health record sharing. While vendors are implementing FHIR based on existing specifications, developing innovative applications requires robust modeling. The seminar utilizes UML (Unified Modeling Language), an ISO-standardized language, to teach participants how to build information models from high-level concepts. A key focus is linking these models with HL7 FHIR. The curriculum progresses through topics such as the significance of modeling and FHIR, UML usage, modeling techniques, and culminates in creating an HL7 FHIR Implementation Guide (IG). The training is led by Yoshihide Nagase, a specialist with extensive experience in data exchange and modeling, contributing to the standardization and utilization of medical information.
