Details
NAACCR announced that a public comment period will be held before the official publication of the Central Cancer Registry Reporting (CCRR) HL7 FHIR Implementation Guide. The goal of this IG is to leverage existing technology frameworks and FHIR standards to enable efficient, standardized electronic data collection and exchange of cancer surveillance data from ambulatory healthcare providers’ Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to central cancer registries. This aims to reduce the reporting burden on providers, ensure secure data transmission, and improve the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of cancer surveillance information using modern interoperability standards. The webinar on December 4, 2025, will provide an overview of the CCRR FHIR IG and explain the HL7 ballot process. The public comment period is scheduled from December 19, 2025, through January 19, 2026, with feedback requested by January 7, 2026. This provides a critical opportunity for the cancer surveillance community to review and provide input on the guide before its official HL7 publication.
