Details
VectorCare announced a partnership with Lyft, launching the "Lyft Smart on FHIR App." Built using FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards, this app seamlessly integrates Lyft's transportation services into the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) workflow. This allows care teams to schedule and manage patient rides without leaving the EHR interface. The key features include: in-EHR ride scheduling directly from a patient's chart in Epic; automated data synchronization of patient demographics, appointment times, and destinations via FHIR APIs; and real-time trip tracking within the EHR. This integration aims to address critical gaps in care delivery, such as streamlining discharges and preventing missed appointments. Epic is noted as the first EHR platform for which VectorCare will make this app available through its App Market (Showroom). The solution allows healthcare organizations to activate it quickly. Industry leaders highlight that leveraging FHIR standards makes it possible to deliver services securely and seamlessly, directly where care happens. The app is currently available in the Epic App Market and plans include expanding availability to additional FHIR-enabled EHR platforms nationwide.
