Lyft and VectorCare Launch FHIR-Based App on Epic, Integrating Patient Transport into EHR
VectorCare 和Lyft 推出「Smart on FHIR」應用程序—— 現已在Epic 的應用商店上線 - 富途资讯
Summary
VectorCare and Lyft have partnered to launch a "Smart on FHIR" application. This solution integrates patient transportation directly into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) workflow via Epic's platform, aiming to streamline care processes.
Details
The app is built using FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards and seamlessly connects Epic users with Lyft’s nationwide transportation network within the EHR interface. Care coordinators and case managers can now order, schedule, and track patient rides in real time—securely and compliantly—as part of their existing workflow. Key features include: direct ride scheduling from a patient's chart in Epic; automated data synchronization (demographics, appointment times, destinations) via FHIR APIs; and real-time trip tracking within the EHR. This integration is expected to facilitate faster discharges, reduce missed appointments, and improve access to care for patients needing reliable transport. Epic is noted as the first EHR platform to offer this solution through its App Market. VectorCare's CEO stated that this addresses a persistent gap in healthcare: patient transportation. Lyft emphasized that their mission is to ensure transportation never stands between patients and their care, allowing Epic users to manage rides instantly after hospital visits.
