Summary

Asan Hospital has launched a 'Health Information Highway' initiative, emphasizing patient-centric value. This project allows patients to safely and efficiently view and transmit medical records held by multiple healthcare institutions based on their own consent.

Details

The 'Health Information Highway' is a major initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI). It aims to establish a system where patients can manage and utilize their own data. Asan Hospital has taken on the role of the hub repository and lead institution since July 2024. The platform allows patients to access, save, and share diverse informationโ€”including test results, clinical records, diagnosis/imaging/pathology results, medication history, and surgical recordsโ€”via the Korea Health Industry Development Institute's 'My Health Record' app. Crucially, the infrastructure is built on a cloud platform adhering to the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard, ensuring secure data transmission. The system currently involves 1,269 medical institutions nationwide (including 47 tertiary general hospitals) as data providers, establishing a robust foundation for patient-centered medical information sharing and leading the future 'Medical MyData' era.
