VNeID to Become the Foundation of Digital Healthcare, Aiming for Public Health Improvement

In Hanoi, Vietnam, a plan (354/KH-UBND) was issued by the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee for collecting and linking medical examination and treatment data. Based on this plan, the city aims to build an 'electronic health record' by consolidating electronic medical records and various data onto the VNeID platform. Specifically, the system will allow direct access to data from hospital management systems, enabling patients to continuously track their own health history. Hanoi City aims to establish a complete, synchronized database of medical examination and treatment data, adhering to international standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and ICD. This initiative is not merely about data aggregation; it will serve as the foundation for developing statistical indicators, dashboards, and AI applications, providing crucial information for the city and Department of Health to guide, coordinate, and plan healthcare policies. Furthermore, Hanoi aims for real-time data linkage and synchronization from 100% of local medical facilities in stages. This effort is expected to contribute to public health improvement by offering citizens convenience through VNeID, such as managing their health online or purchasing medicine online. VNeID itself functions as a national electronic identification system, allowing integrated use of various documents like ID cards, health insurance cards, and driver's licenses on mobile devices.
