Anthropic Launches Specialized Medical AI 'Claude for Healthcare': Enhanced FHIR Support and Life Sciences Integration

Anthropic has introduced 'Claude for Healthcare,' an AI tool designed to address challenges in the medical field. This tool is compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and targets diverse stakeholders including healthcare providers, payers, and general consumers. Technically, it supports connections to CMS covered databases and ICD-10 coding systems. Notably, it adds FHIR development capabilities and agent skills for pre-authorization review, enabling advanced workflow construction using FHIR, the standardized format for medical data exchange. Furthermore, 'Claude for Life Sciences' has been expanded concurrently. It now includes connectivity to major life science platforms such as Medidata, ClinicalTrials.gov, bioRxiv/medRxiv, ChEMBL, Open Targets, and Owkin. This expansion also introduces new skills for drafting clinical trial protocols. These advanced capabilities are built upon the latest model, Claude Opus 4.5, achieving significant performance improvements in medical and life science tasks. All new connectors and skills are currently available to users on Claude Pro, Max, Teams, and Enterprise plans.
