Summary

Minister of Health, Shi Chong-liang, revealed that the Taipei Medical University (BeiMed) system has expanded its long-term cooperation with friend nation Swadivini. Beyond clinical services and personnel training, they are now assisting in building medical information systems. Notably, the introduction of the international standard FHIR record format is advancing future AI utilization.

Details

According to Minister Shi Chong-liang, the Taipei Medical University system has dispatched a resident medical team to the Kingdom of Swadivini since 2009, engaging in diverse activities such as public health prevention, clinical care, education, and humanitarian aid. Initial cooperation focused mainly on clinical services and personnel training. However, adapting to global information technology development in recent years, they began assisting Swadivini in establishing a Taiwanese-style medical technology system. This integrated system combines information systems for multiple areas: outpatients, registration, diagnosis records, and pharmacy management. Minister Shi stated that this effort has been met with positive reception. He emphasized that the introduction of the international standard FHIR patient record format has opened up an important direction for Swadivini's progress. This development is highly beneficial for future AI implementation, and Taiwan plans to continue its cooperation with Swadivini. Currently, seven resident medical team members (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff) from the BeiMed system are dispatched there.
