Details
Epic and Labcorp are expanding their partnership to provide access to the complete range of Labcorp's diagnostic tests on the Epic EHR platform, Aura. Previously, the collaboration included Labcorp’s Invitae genetic tests. The expansion allows clinicians to order a wide variety of lab tests directly within their existing workflow and receive results there. The companies aim to streamline the lab ordering process for care teams by making all tests available through Aura. This is expected to reduce the time, cost, and maintenance required for complex lab interfaces. According to the news release, Aura's connectivity and content-management capabilities will simplify the onboarding and maintenance of Labcorp’s entire test menu. This expanded collaboration occurs amid a growing industry focus on interoperability. Epic is a key participant in CMS' Health Tech Ecosystem initiative, which aims to align various healthcare stakeholders (including data networks, EHR systems, providers, and payers) around a shared data access framework. Furthermore, Labcorp has actively participated in these efforts, becoming a member of the CommonWell Health Alliance in 2024, with its partnership expected to advance FHIR interoperability and facilitate clinical laboratory data exchange.
