Telstra Health Unveils Corus: A FHIR-Based Interoperable Care Intelligence Ecosystem

At the Digital Health Festival 2026, Telstra Health announced Corus, a new cloud-native, standards-based, and interoperable care intelligence ecosystem. The platform is designed to “connect care across settings” and was developed with input from clinicians across the Australian health ecosystem. At its core is 'Corus iX,' an enterprise data spine built on Smile OmniVera HDP, which is a FHIR native health data platform. This foundation provides a governed, standards-based mechanism for securely sharing information in near real time across diverse settings, including hospitals, primary care, aged care, and community services. Corus iX enables reusable, modular interoperability services—such as eRequesting and Smart Referrals—to reduce duplication and improve consistency. Initial capabilities include Population Health, Care Navigation (an AI-enabled contact center), and Care Coordination. Telstra Health stated that the system addresses not just a technology problem but a systemic one, partnering with market leaders like Salesforce and Snowflake to standardize core services. This approach allows customers to scale solutions faster and more confidently without disrupting their existing systems, aiming for safer and more seamless care delivery across the Australian healthcare landscape.
