2026 Taiwan Connectathon: Promoting Healthcare Data Standardization and Interoperability Testing

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (Taiwan) organized the '2026 Taiwan Connectathon' to promote the standardization and integration of medical and health data. This initiative adopts the international Connectathon mechanism to verify the interoperability capabilities between diverse systems, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of medical information exchange. The event integrates global standards and frameworks such as HL7 FHIR and IHE into local development efforts for healthcare information standardization in Taiwan. Through a process involving 'Standardization - Implementation - Connectathon - Validation,' the goal is to build a standardized ecosystem for medical information in Taiwan, providing mechanisms for product demonstration and validation. This supports domestic medical IT industries and startup teams in developing products and services compliant with international standards. Furthermore, by gathering input from industry players, healthcare institutions, and stakeholders (bottom-up approach), it aims to promote innovative applications based on actual clinical needs, thereby fostering the development energy of Taiwan's smart healthcare and digital health industries. The event is scheduled from June 8th (Monday) to June 11th (Thursday). The Ministry of Health and Welfare Information Department is the main organizer.
