Summary

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) is holding the 'LOINC Medical Testing Data Standardization Achievement Presentation' to promote medical data standardization and smart healthcare development. The event highlights the importance of establishing a nationwide, unified testing data structure by adopting the international standard code LOINC, along with various practical application cases.

Details

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) aims to advance the standardization of domestic medical data and promote smart healthcare through the 'LOINC Medical Testing Data Standardization Achievement Presentation.' The background for this initiative is the lack of uniformity in testing names and coding methods across different medical institutions, which previously hindered data exchange and integrated application. To resolve this issue, MOHW has collaborated with hospitals, academic associations, the IT industry, and international testing manufacturers to promote the adoption of LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) standards. The presentation will not only showcase the national standardization achievements but also share practical application cases in fields such as National Health Insurance reporting, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), pre-screening for cancer drugs, and infectious disease reporting. Moving forward, MOHW plans to continue this effort by linking it with TWCDI Taiwan Core Data Set and the international FHIR standard. This aims to build a nationwide interoperable medical data environment, promoting innovative smart healthcare applications and improving the quality of medical services. The event is targeted at high-level officials from various health agencies, heads of national medical facilities and testing departments, clinical laboratory technologists, and HIM/IT engineers involved in LOINC operations.
