Summary

Real Hospital Português, with the support of technology partner Sensedia, implemented an advanced interoperability system based on HL7 FHIR standards between itself and Recife's public health network. This enables safe, structured exchange of patient information, contributing to improved healthcare delivery.

Details

Real Hospital Português partnered with Sensedia to build an interoperability architecture as part of its digital transformation project, connecting it to the public health network of Recife. The system utilizes the international standard HL7 FHIR, enabling the secure and structured exchange of data between the hospital and the city's government. Previously, the hospital only had access to data recorded within its own system. With the new architecture, it can now view clinical histories from the public network as well, which helps reduce redundant exams and prevent duplication in medication dispensing, thereby strengthening continuous care. Sensedia provided consulting support, utilizing its API Management platform for everything from strategy definition to operational execution. This project addresses multiple challenges beyond mere technology implementation: integrating data between heterogeneous systems, standardizing clinical data, and adhering to the models of the National Health Data Network (RNDS). As a result, this case is gaining attention as a replicable model for other healthcare institutions within Brazil.
