Florida Health Information Exchange Selects CRISP for Shared Service Platform, Driving Statewide Interoperability and Healthcare Transformation

CRISP Shared Services (CSS), a national non-profit organization providing medical infrastructure and data exchange technology, has been selected as the new operating entity for the Florida Health Information Exchange platform, which is overseen by the Florida Department of Health (AHCA). The transition work for this platform is scheduled to officially launch on July 1, 2026. The new platform is expected to significantly improve Florida's healthcare infrastructure. Specific improvements include an estimated nearly 5% increase in hospital bed coverage and the addition of approximately 3,500 beds. Furthermore, the number of connected professional care facilities is projected to increase by over 200%. In terms of functionality, the platform will cover comprehensive clinical data related to patients' entire treatment spectrum by integrating a wide range of clinical data types compliant with HL7 FHIR standards. Beyond simple information exchange, it will offer advanced services through an optimized event notification mechanism, matching patient lists and ADT (Admission/Discharge/Transfer) data to push out appointment notifications. Additionally, the platform aims to lower the economic and administrative barriers for adoption by waiving all annual service fees for small and medium-sized medical institutions. It is also positioned as the core technical support for the Florida CMS rural healthcare transition project.
