Hixny and medent Achieve Statewide Health Data Interoperability with SMART on FHIR

Hixny, a health information exchange service, partnered with medent, a widely used electronic health record (EHR) system in New York State, to achieve an integration utilizing SMART on FHIR technology. This collaboration enables clinicians to access comprehensive patient histories and encounter/diagnostic data directly from their existing workflow, while also engaging with the state's statewide health information network. Specifically, direct access is provided to multiple state-level tools, including the Department of Health's controlled substance database, the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), and the Office of Mental Health's behavioral health database. Furthermore, Hixny offers a Statewide Admission, Discharge, and Transitional Care (ADT) alerts platform, which automatically updates patient rosters within medent’s workflow. This integration employs a plug-and-play interface that significantly reduces deployment timelines while adhering to federal interoperability standards. This provides smaller practices with access to rich statewide patient data with minimal disruption, establishing a foundation for improved efficiency and better coordination across care teams.
