Hixny and medent Announce SMART on FHIR Integration: Integrating Statewide Data into Primary Care Workflow

Hixny, the New York State credible health information exchange platform, has completed a pilot integration with medent, an electronic medical record system service provider, based on federal interoperability standards (SMART on FHIR). This collaboration introduces the 'Snapshot' application, enabling clinicians to access comprehensive statewide patient data directly within their existing EHR workflows. Specifically, users can retrieve complete patient health histories and visit/diagnosis data, while also accessing official tools such as the New York State Department of Health controlled drug database, Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), and the NY State Office of Mental Health's behavioral health database PSYCKES. The integration utilizes a plug-and-play solution compliant with federal interoperability standards, significantly shortening deployment cycles. This allows clinics to leverage rich statewide patient data without disrupting daily operations. Furthermore, Hixny plans to expand services on the medent platform to include a statewide Admission, Discharge, and Transition (ADT) reminder system. This service will automatically update patient rosters based on existing medent information, triggering reminders without manual clinic maintenance. This initiative aims to streamline healthcare delivery and enhance data accessibility by embedding extensive state-level health data directly into primary care workflows.
