Hixny and medent Achieve Statewide Health Data Access via SMART on FHIR Integration

On June 25, 2026, Hixny, a credible health information exchange platform in New York State, and medent, an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system provider, announced the completion of a pilot integration. This paves the way for the large-scale rollout of Hixny's "Snapshot" application within the medent platform across the state. Through this integration, clinicians can retrieve comprehensive patient health histories, visit, and diagnostic data from the entire New York State health network directly within their existing EHR workflow. Furthermore, it provides access to official health tools, including the NY Department of Health controlled drug database, Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), and the NY State Office of Mental Health's behavioral health database PSYCKES. The integration utilizes a plug-and-play solution compliant with federal interoperability standards, significantly shortening deployment cycles. This allows clinics to access richer statewide patient data with minimal disruption to daily operations. Future plans include Hixny deploying a statewide Admission, Discharge, and Transition (ADT) reminder platform on the medent platform, which automatically updates patient rosters based on existing medent information. This development highlights significant progress in improving interoperability within healthcare IT systems, ensuring consistent care across the state.
