Introducing a FHIR Data Model Compatible with EHRs, Based on HL7 Standards
EHR & Data — HL7-compliant FHIR data model - FitsPro
Summary
FitsPro utilizes an HL7-compliant FHIR data model to ensure high compatibility with existing systems. This allows for the bidirectional exchange of patient information and diagnostic results in a standardized format.
Details
This service provides an integration solution that allows clinics to maintain their existing Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) as the primary system while implementing foot-care specific workflows within FitsPro. Its core strength is its adoption of an HL7-compliant FHIR R4 data model. Since all clinical records map directly to standard FHIR resources (Patient, Practitioner, Organization, etc.), data exchange with existing systems eliminates manual steps like re-keying or faxing. In addition to a modern 'Read and write FHIR resources' API, it also supports the legacy 'HL7 v2 messaging' format, facilitating adoption across diverse healthcare IT environments. Data is exchanged bidirectionally; not only patient demographics but also diagnostic results, orders, and billing information can be written back to the EHR.
