The research addresses the critical issue that less than 5% of clinically useful PGHD collected by wearables reaches clinical systems. To meet mandates like the European Health Data Space (EHDS) Regulation, the team developed an FHIR R4 Implementation Guide. This IG utilizes a multi-layer architecture covering eleven domains and includes numerous technical artifacts, such as 74 profiles and 50 extensions. Crucially, it documents terminology gaps for wearable-specific metrics (e.g., RMSSD, pNN50) that are not yet covered by established standards like LOINC or SNOMED CT. The guide aims to achieve semantic convergence in multi-vendor environments using FHIR. This approach offers a concrete model for standardizing the intake and handling of PGHD, which is a pressing challenge for Japanese healthcare IT systems seeking enhanced interoperability.
